Good Parents was created by Dr. Li Cai (a research professor in the College of Engineering at the University of Arkansas), Joy Hagerty (an infant and baby product expert), and Mark C. Zweig (Sam M. Walton College entrepreneurship faculty member, as well as twice-named Inc. 500 firm founder and CEO). The mission of Good Parents is to provide the best, safest, most innovative infant and baby products that improve the quality of life for parents and their young children.  We take that mission seriously!

In 2003, Dr. Li Cai, a professor at the University of Arkansas, had his first baby. Using traditional diaper changing pad for his daughter, he was frustrated by diaper changing experience. Each time he used the traditional diaper changing pad he faced three challenges. First, when changing his infant's diaper, he had to hold his daughter’s little ankles tight and lift her legs up to clean her bottom. The baby constantly squirmed during diaper changing processes due to pain in her ankles and the uncomfortable position she was confined to. Secondly, during the diaper changing process, sometimes his daughter spit up milk due to having her stomach higher than her throat, better known as acid reflux. Acid reflux is quite common in newborns due to an undeveloped sphincter in their esophagus/stomach area. Acid reflux can be quite dangerous to newborns. It is reported that 50% of newborns have acid reflux in various degrees.  The third challenge of changing diaper was that he had to repeatedly adjust the position of a new diaper under his daughter in order to put the new diaper on his daughter correctly.

To comfort his daughter, minimize her acid reflux, and reduce frustration for himself and his wife, Dr. Cai invented a simple and easy-to-use diaper changing pad. The invention enabled parents and caregivers alike to change diapers without having to lift babies by their feet, one cause of acid reflux. Instead, the infant's legs are easily pushed into a natural fetal position during diaper changing process.

Dr. Cai's experience told him that innovative and unique infant and baby products are needed to help parents and babies alike. Most parents want to be the best caregivers possible for their little ones. Parents, especially first time parents also want the best products for their babies.  Therefore, Dr. Cai, along with his friends Joy Hagerty and Mark Zweig, started Good Parents, LLC, with a simple mission to provide the best, safest, most comfortable, and innovative infant and baby products available anywhere.
